Pop art is a direction in art based on objects of mass culture and aimed at entertainment, commerce, and not at the search for deep meaning, philosophy and spirituality.
And as it turned out, bananas are not only one of the most popular fruits in the world, but also an object of attention for art performers and a source of inspiration for famous contemporary artists.
A couple of years ago, the global art community discussed the controversial work of the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan (Maurizio Cattelan) "Comedian". At an exhibition in Miami, an Italian taped an ordinary banana to the wall with tape. Almost immediately, this installation was bought for 120 thousand dollars. But most of all, the visitors remembered the performance by David Datuna - he unceremoniously peeled off the tape and bit off half of this art object in front of the visitors, and offered to share the other part with the audience.
